A Colored Pencil Art Journey
KimbasCPart
It all begins with an idea.
Once the fullness of life has been lived, an old passion is reawakened.
Welcome to My Colored Pencil Creations
Colored pencil art involves drawings and illustrations, using of course colored pencils. Colored pencils are known for there versatility, precision, and vibrant colors. It is popular for it’s ease of use, portability, and the fine detail it allows artists to achieve. There is nothing better for realism than colored pencil art. Over time the archival quality and the endless options in surfaces has made colored pencil art a form to be reckoned with.

Commissions
Commissions can be produced from not only our beloved pets, or homes, but things that evoke a special memory. I live in Hillsdale, Michigan but will deliver locally if possible as I do still travel to the Toledo, Ohio area as well.
I will need a good quality photo, the more detail the better as I have no experience with your subject other than what is provided.
All of the materials used are archival enabling them to be passed down for generations to come.
Matted and ready for framing, shipping will be an extra fee. I require a 25% deposit, and final approval of reference photo. I reserve copyright to original artwork created.
5x7 = $150 (1 subject/additional details may be extra)
8x10 =$240 (1 subject/additional details may be extra)
I also love doing mini pieces of art, although details would be limited. These are trading card size pieces. These are available for $35.00.
These portraits were created using pastlemat, giving a much softer look..
This piece was created on drafting film which allows for a brightness and focus of detail.
This house commission was created with watercolor and ink which I utilize now and then.
Testimonials
"During the summer of 2023 my son and his wife decided it was time to move from the starter home my son had purchased as a bachelor, and find a larger "forever" home. When my son told me of their decision he explained with mixed emotions... that modest home was where they first established themselves as a married couple, brought home their beloved rescue dog, and most importantly welcomed their son home from the hospital at two days old.
When I heard this, I knew I wanted to find a way to secure the memories of this home for my son and his wife.
I remembered that Kim had shown me some of her drawings over the years, and I hoped that she would help to make these memories stay alive.
I spoke to Kim, and with her direction took several pictures of the outside of the home and sent them to her. Weeks later I was presented with a life-like painting of my son's home, a one of a kind piece of art that now hangs in the office of his "forever" home, that will always serve as a reminder of seven years of memories,,,"

“I was recently gifted a piece of Kim’s outstanding art work. She captured my sweet Bourbon perfectly… those sweet eyes, his nose, soft ears, and the wrinkles in his neck. It’s unbelievable... Its hard to not miss that sweet face and seeing it, through her beautiful artwork brought me to tears. Thank you Kim for such a beautiful gift. It will be treasured for years to come! There will never be a dog like our Bourbon! “ Breanna Lucas
“I want to thank Kim for helping me give my son and his family the best gift ever. I contacted Kim at a point when my “granddog” was having health issues and we knew the end was near. He had been a loving companion to my son and daughter in law as they faced heartbreak multiple times trying to grow their family . When my granddaughter was born he became her protector and continued to love and protect her until a brain tumor took him. He was the best and Kim helped to keep him alive with her beautiful portrait that captured him perfectly . Kim is a great artist who can keep your fur baby close . Thank you Kim for your beautiful work” Darlene Sanderson

Colored pencil Mini Art
These are mixed media, and as close as I get to being silly. These are trading card size pieces that are 2.5 in x 3.5 in, a great way of collecting affordable original art or as gifts.
These are also an option for commission work, would not allow for a lot of detail but fun creations.

Meet the creative journey

From a young age, I followed a fairly typical pathway, though my decision to leave home at 16 marked the beginning of my journey towards independence and resilience. This early departure instilled in me a robust work ethic, driving me to establish a clear plan for my future and stick to it diligently.
My hard work paid off as I realized my dream of becoming a business owner. Along the way, life circumstances led me to pursue a teaching degree, and I had the opportunity to teach high school students. Balancing my career with family, I was blessed with two wonderful children. I am now the proud nana of three grandchildren.
Interestingly, my journey with art had its own twists. During high school, I took some art classes, but my enthusiasm was dampened by a nun who didn't appreciate my lack of interest in art history. Perhaps now that I’m mature I should seek to gain knowledge in this area. Despite this setback, art found its way back into my life later on.
Experiencing a bit of empty nest syndrome, I decided to revisit drawing in my late forties. I took a few classes at a local art supply store and fell in love with colored pencils. Although information on colored pencil art was scarce at the time, I explored and learned on my own. However, as life took its twists and turns, I stepped away from my artwork for a while.
In 2023, I fully returned to my passion for drawing. It has become a release I can't let go of. With high anxiety and possible perfectionism, I cherish the quiet my mind finds while drawing.
With the encouragement of family in late 2023, I decided to invest in my art. I’m currently enrolled in the Bonny Snowdon online Academy.
This renewed love for art has become an integral part of my life, bringing me peace and fulfillment.
